Does remote work still resonate in a post-COVID world, and is it here to stay? Aker Ink CEO Andrea Aker was invited to share her take on the topic as a panelist at the latest “SRYP to VIP” event for Scottsdale Rising Young Professionals, a program of the Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce.
Joining fellow business leaders speaking to a range of in-person, work-from-home and hybrid models, Andrea explained why a “primarily remote” approach has suited Aker Ink since 2007 but may not be ideal for all companies. She expanded on the concept of intentional meetings in person — rather than working from an office cubicle for the sake of it. Instead, this type of hybrid model focuses on more meaningful initiatives in person such as volunteering, team retreats and project collaboration.
Andrea also offered guidance to young professionals on an individual level, encouraging them to look inward and evaluate their own habits and social preferences, acknowledging that different workplace approaches best accommodate different people.
“Above all else, find a career that aligns with your passions and personality,” she said. “Inspiration and engagement will naturally spark no matter where the work is taking place.”
The Scottsdale Chamber’s SRYP program is designed to engage young professionals ages 23-39, empowering emerging leaders to grow, connect and make an impact. Members access opportunities to expand their networks, sharpen their skills and support one another in achieving career goals, all while giving back to the Scottsdale community.
