Taylor is also able to leverage her experience as a content marketer and copywriter by assisting the committee with website development, blogging and social media outreach.

The Citizens’ Committee to Save Elysian Park was founded in 1965 in response to plans to bulldoze part of the park to build the Los Angeles Convention Center. Grace E. Simons – a renowned local reporter – organized a convincing letter-writing campaign to persuade public opinion. It was successful and the plans for the Convention Center were scrapped.

Today, Elysian Park is one of Los Angeles’ biggest and most treasured green spaces. The Committee continues to carry Simons’ legacy, serving as some of the park’s greatest stewards and defenders. By partnering with volunteers and local nonprofits, the Committee promotes native plants, keeps the park clean, prevents development and ensures the park is available for everyone to enjoy.

“I wanted to become more involved in my neighborhood,” Taylor explains. “Joining the Citizen’s Committee allows me to do that, while leveraging my skills to contributing to a good cause. Elysian Park is only minutes from where I live and a truly special place, especially in a city where accessible, green spaces are hard to come by.”

In her spare time, Taylor is often found hiking and volunteering in the park.
